An Isometric Pixel city block I made for Pixeldam.net
The theme is supposed to be a beautiful water garden isolated from the rest of the town. CC please
Take a gander at this beauty! Definately a place where you'd just like to relax and live the rest of your days in peace. (Though I'm guessing this whole concept of being "forbidden" doesn't increase my chances of actually doing so.) Nevertheless, "The Forbidden Gardens" by ~ryan-gfx offers an exemplary example of some of the finest isometric pixel art from our galleries. (
-the shading on the rocks seems a little bit pillow and seems to lack the level of texture the rest of the pic has
-the trees seem to be at a little bit of a different perspective to the rest of the image, they look me side on, like they are being swept back from a wind coming for the bottom of the picture, like wouldn't the bottom of the leaves be invisible, given the top-down perspective?
-i dont really like the black outlines on things, yes I'm one of THOSE pixel artists.
-hmm i dont like such a liberal use of highlight colours throughout a lot of the darker parts of the objects, makes it look very high contrast and shiny. I mainly mean the well
-the waterfall on the left side, shouldnt that be in shadow?
Now for the things I DO like:
Love the texture of the grass achieved with such few colours, the single line of backlighting on the trucks is damn stylish, the waterfalls look very cool, the tufts of grass everywhere totally kick arse. Congrats on the DD
Ooooh, sweet, I love the well´s bricks. Here´s something you could fix if you want, at that iso angle the trees look out of place as they are angled diferently as it seems. I would cover up the top bit of the branches with leaves because like said beofre it doesn´t go with the iso view, you wouldn´t be able to see them normally. Hope this helps you if not for this piece but the next one with trees.
